Located in the heart of the Castro district in San Francisco, Beck’s Motor Lodge is an icon in the city since 1958.

Inspired by the culture that flourished in the area during the 1960s and 1970s, the design brings a fresh look with the vibrant colors of the era, linear and simple forms derived from the surrounding landscape and architecture, and the energy of the residents that draw tourists from around the world.

The furniture selection draws inspiration from Mid Century styles, which were typical during the hotel’s initial opening. Each bed is crafted from FSC certified woods in inviting warm tones, ensuring a comfortable and cozy ambiance. The side chairs, on the other hand, exhibit a mix of neutral and vibrant colors, intentionally creating a striking contrast against the neutral hues of the walls and carpet.

The accent walls play a dual role: they serve as both artwork and a perfect background for the carefully handpicked art pieces. The underlying concept is to pay homage to The Castro District’s vibrant culture, the hotel’s owner who embodies courage and vision, and Northern California’s natural beauty. Together, these elements converge, creating an immersive experience where art, history, and nature intertwine.
